  • Guest Apperance on Perspectively Yours Podcast with Alexis and Sam

I was thrilled to be a guest on Perspectively Yours this week, where we had an insightful discussion about one of the most transformative and often challenging phases in a mother’s life—the fourth trimester. I discuss how hard this transition can be including a very eye opening trip to Target with my first daughter.  As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in perinatal mental health, I have worked with countless new mothers navigating the identity shifts, physical recovery, and emotional adjustments that come with early postpartum.

During our conversation, we focused on normalizing the challenges that come with this stage, whether you’re a first-time mom or a seasoned parent. We delved into the physical, emotional, and mental hurdles that mothers face, and shared practical tips for managing expectations during this time of profound change.

    Key topics we covered include:

    • Physical, Emotional, and Identity Challenges in Early Postpartum: We explored the common struggles moms face, from recovering physically after birth to adapting to their new roles as mothers, while also dealing with shifts in their identity.

    • Practical Support Tips: I shared actionable advice on how moms can get the support they need during this time, and how their loved ones can step in to help.

    • Managing Expectations: We discussed the importance of being realistic about postpartum expectations and how to navigate this period without feeling overwhelmed or isolated.

    • Finding Resources and Support: Whether it’s emotional, physical, or social, we touched on where moms can seek out support and resources to ensure they feel nurtured and understood during the fourth trimester.

If you or someone you know is expecting a baby or has recently given birth, I highly encourage you to give this episode a listen. It’s an honest, supportive conversation aimed at helping parents feel more empowered and connected during postpartum.
